As of January 19, 2021, College Board is discontinuing the essay section on the SAT exams, which was considered optional prior to this change. College Board also announced that they are no longer offering SAT Subject Tests in the U.S., which used to allow a student to demonstrate their knowledge of a particular subject they learned (such as chemistry, math, or physics) to colleges. They described that SAT Subject Tests were used for larger reasons for international students, which is why they will no longer be offered. Though a few SAT Subject Test dates for this year remain before this change is fully in effect, College Board indicates that since AP exams are more widespread now, they are a better indicator of mastery of certain subjects than SAT Subject Tests.

College Board also discusses refunds for students who already paid for subject tests in their article, so it is important to read about this if it impacts you.
